  Natural Gout Attack Treatment

If your toe feels like it’s broken and just the thought of a sheet touching it makes you break out into a cold sweat, head to your local supermarket for natural gout attack treatment option. Cherries are a well-known remedy for gout.

Back in 1950, gout sufferer Ludwig W. Blau, Ph. D., steered his wheelchair to the refrigerator and grabbed a bowl of cherries. The next morning the Texan found that the pain and inflammation caused by gout in his foot was almost gone. This intrigued his family physician who tried the gout attack  treatment on 12 of his other patients. All reported improvement. Dr. Blau reported in ‘Texas Report on Biology and Medicine’ in an article titled ’Cherry Diet Control for Gout and Arthritis,’ that all 12 of those patients saw their blood uric acid levels return to normal, with no further attacks of gout.

Now you really need to like cherries for this natural gout attack treatment to work. Each of those individuals ate one-half pound of fresh or canned cherries a day for about 10 days. One woman ate cherries for six to eight months before her gout pain was relieved. It is reported that cherry juice also will bring gout pain relief and promote gout health.

If cherries aren’t your thing, or your busy lifestyle doesn’t allow for frequent trips to the supermarket for the gout treatment, try the Arthritis Strategy Pack for hassle free  gout attack treatment. A few capsules a day will bring about gout pain relief - and is less expensive than all those cherries.

These specific natural alkalizing agents are essential to establishing safe pH levels within the body. The Buffer pH formula also contains 14 homeopathic ingredients that work synergistically to balance the body's chemistry at a sub-cellular level.

In the past, gout disease was known as a rich man’s disease because it seemed to be connected with the rich foods and lifestyle of the upper classes. Today gout disease is often linked with men who overindulge in alcohol, but also could be a woman consuming large quantities of red meat. However, gout is more common in men than in women.

Gout’s main health characteristic is increased blood levels of uric acid, with an increase in uric acid production greater than that excreted. It is the high level of uric acid that cause the repeated attacks of acute arthritis known as gout disease.

During initial stages of this form of arthritis, gout disease usually is confined to a single joint. Over time, chronic arthritis may develop, affecting and deforming multiple joints. The arthritic disease begins after the age of thirty.

Gout health symptoms occur without warning most commonly in the big toe. However, often one can be afflicted by knee gout, foot gout, and ankle gout simultaneously. Common gout health symptoms include swelling, tenderness of the affected area, redness and warmth of the skin over the joint, slight to moderate fever, and gradually increasing pain.

Gout attacks may occur months or years apart with the time intervals becoming shorter as the disease progresses. People who experience their first gout attack before the age of fifty usually find that the disease progresses rapidly.

Obesity increases the risk of gout for both men and women as it does with other forms of arthritis. Research shows that about 50 percent of those with gout are at least 15 percent above their recommended weight.

Gout and Uric Acid: Gout disease comes in two types - primary and secondary. With primary or inherited gout, an increase in the production of uric acid by the body leads to elevated uric acid levels in the blood. A reduction of uric acid excreted in the urine usually also occurs.

With secondary gout disease, high blood levels of uric acid may be caused by a wide range of ailments from chronic kidney failure to cancer to multiple myeloma to psoriasis. Cancer chemotherapy, with the rapid destruction of body cells, can lead to the production of the chemical precursors of uric acid and this can cause gout.

Uric acid is a waste product derived from the breakdown the amino acid, purine. Normally, uric acid is dissolved in the blood and eliminated from the body by the kidneys. When this process goes awry, gout disease results.

An acute attack of gout disease begins when sodium urate crystals are formed in the body and deposited into a joint and the surrounding synovial membrane. The body responds to this by sending white blood cells to the area as part of its immune health response. The white blood cells overrun the crystals. When they do they release a number of chemical substances that cause inflammation. This produces the acute arthritic attack.

The urate crystals also can cause health problems in the subcutaneous tissue, bones, tendons, and kidneys. When urate crystals accumulate, they create lesions called tophi. When tophi form within and around the joint, they can greatly damage the joint and lead to chronic gouty arthritis. In addition, excessive uric acid excretion in the urine can lead to the development of painful kidney stones, possible kidney damage, and even kidney failure.

Researchers have found that avoiding purine rich foods can be an effective natural gout treatment. One study found that healthy men could cut their blood levels of uric acid in half by eliminating all purine rich foods. Foods with the most purine are meats, organ meats and baked goods with yeast. Other foods to avoid are gravies, broths, herring, fish, sardines, mussels, dried beans, lentils, peas, spinach, oatmeal and alcoholic beverages.

Studies show that men who prefer beer as their adult beverage of choice have a higher chance of developing gout than those who do not drink beer. One study found that 41 percent of a group of gout sufferers drank more than seven 12-ounce cans of beer daily, compared to 17 percent from the healthy control group. The reason? Beer contains not only uric acid raising alcohol, but also fermented yeast - a double no, no. Some researchers say that eliminating alcohol is all it takes for gout prevention in some people.
